The “Hinter Gärten” development is situated in a sought-after location not far from the centre of the village. Right behind the development is the “Hinter Gärten” school building, which features a kindergarten, a primary school and day-care programmes. There are two bus stops just a few metres away. Tram line 6 and Riehen railway station, which has direct links to Basel and Lörrach, are also located within direct proximity. Shops, restaurants and medical services are just a short walk away as well.
Riehen is known for its high quality of life. The newly designed village centre is a fantastic place to stroll or go shopping.
The village was recognised by UNICEF as a “Child-friendly town” back in 2011. Riehen’s diverse range of cultural offerings extends far beyond the world-famous Fondation Beyeler. There is lots to discover in the countless galleries, not to mention the historic Wettsteinhaus with its museum dedicated to toys, the village and winegrowing.
Riehen has plenty of leisure attractions to offer – for instance the outdoor swimming pond in Schlipf, complete with diving pool, fountains and a water slide. Relaxation is catered for too, with several large parkland areas and numerous hikes in the surrounds of the “big green village”.
